gentlemen, the arms race has officially begun. nothing but good can come from this move for basketball in the nyc area. you can bet dolan is far from pleased with this move. i expect the knicks to make something happen before the end of the deadline.
@bigshon They should. It is a little embarrassing don't you think? that was what you call a fair trade. LOL.
Don't get me wrong though. I love the one I'm with. HAHAHA
we didn't have the picks to go after Deron but...I think...I think I would have prefered DWill to Melo. I wonder if Felton and our Denvered youngins would have pulled it off....oh well.
Tonight's the night.
NJ ain't shit anyway. Now we get to see if Deron can get them out the basement
@bigshon That's why it is now important to fight to prevent a franchise tag. Or at least have it phased in after 2 or 3 years in a New CBA. Melo and STAT need to keep NY pumped to win the on court battles against the Nets. If so, the New CBA won't be as much of an issue to the Knicks, if IF they can defeat a franchise tag. Money being equal and if the Knicks can keep their books clean for a Williams or Paul, they can still get a big 3. The fight is in James Dolan's and the Knicks ownership hands now.
Im really hoping the knicks can pull off another deal before the deadline. after trading a chunk of our roster for melo, now more than ever we have major holes to fill if we wana make some noise in the playoffs that is. id love it if the team was able to get camby from portland, but thus far it seems as tho the blazers have no interest in dealing with us. there isnt much else on the market in terms of defensive big men. if all else fails i think the knicks should at least try to acquire a backup pg...i love the things that toney douglas is able to do, but right now its obvious that he has trouble running a team. a couple weeks back he single handedly gave the sixers the game as he turned the ball over numerous times and threw up alot of bad shots that led to easy fast break points. i dont know what other deals are out there in terms of the pg position. but i guy that i think could thrive here is kirk hinrich. he shoots the ball well, has good court vision, can play the 2 guard, hes a tough defender and best of all his contract expires at the end of next season. According to David Aldridge The Atlanta Hawks are interested in Washington Wizards veteran point guard Kirk Hinrich, according to league sources, but the Hawks are not willing to give Washington both a young player and a first-round pick for Hinrich, the Wizards’ current asking price. Atlanta is trying to convince Washington take back veteran Mike Bibby for Hinrich, pointing out the potential cap savings for the Wizards. Hinrich is scheduled to make $8 million next season, while Bibby only will make $6.2 million. Both would be entering the final year of their respective contracts next season. The Wizards, though, want to continue their youth movement–though Washington isn’t interested in taking on the two years and $15.7 million that will be left on swingman Marvin Williams‘s contract after this season. The Hawks are reluctant to put a first-round pick in the deal, especially considering the Wizards already got a first from Chicago last year when the Bulls traded Hinrich to Washington to clear salary cap space. The Wizards used that pick to select French big man Kevin Seraphin, who has played sporadically this season for Flip Saunders. since nobody is gonna offer washington the first rounder, why dont the knicks at least try to get involved here, u think brewer, buike (80% of his contract to be paid by insurance) and rautins could get it done?
Great deal guys. Sorry, I missed you but thrilled that things are so exciting that we get an ad hoc unscheduled LBE.
Great trade all you need now is one more player that is a star and is willing to play for basically nothing. One name comes to mind.... Allen Iverson. Before you go crazy think about it. He has a huge chip on his shoulder and the last thing teams wanna face is iverson that feels like he has something to prove. This could work for meantime while they wait for paul, williams, or howard at least maybe even along with them. What do you think???? plus melo and him are already good friends. good idea i know lol
@Lives @3jj3 Seems to me that AI left the league b/c he was unwilling to come off the bench as a reserve. His ego wouldn't let him become a reserve. That sort of says selfish to me. IF he could get over that and still show that he has game. Maybe then I'm comfortable with making a move for AI. That also depends on whether he has any game left for the NBA. A big if.
@3jj3 Iverson is in rehab.
