I know I am hard on Chris, but please know that it is only as a basketball player who does not maximize his talents. He seems like a really cool human being. He's just another squirrel trying to get a nut. (Thank Walsh for that stash he's got now. LOL). Funny interview though.  Chris and others teasingly communicate to  coach D'Antoni through a finger mustache.   And Duhon's answer to the question "Do you think this can be a big year for you guys?"  He says, "It better be.  A lot of us are on one year contracts."

THE KOOLAID IS REALLY COFFEE

As usual, I started my day at the computer checking my 250 e-mails.  An anonymous someone, a Knicks insider perhaps, had sent me a tip that blew my mind.  It was a gift, as though I had been sent the secret to everlasting Gullibility: "the sense of someone who will swallow anything given to him."  It revealed the secret formula that Mr. Dolan and his altered ego Dr. Hahn put into Gullible's juice.  And all along, I thought it was the koolaid.

I followed these instructions:

The NY Post's Marc Berman reports that D'Antoni is considering changes in the starting line up. Gallinari is at the top of the list for the starting unit after his shooting display.

"I'm always going to consider it,'' D'Antoni said. "If we lose, I consider it. I stayed up all night thinking about it. I don't know yet. I told them be prepared.''

I would suggest that putting Gallinari in the starting line up is not the answer.  Larry Brown is too smart to allow Gallo to sit on the tre line and take set shots.  Unless Gallo is aggressive and can make sure the ball moves toward the basket and not around the semi-circle he is not going to make the offense run much better.  D'Antoni would have more success setting the tone with Nate in the starting line-up.  Nate would do a far better job of upping the tempo.  For example he provides a perfect target for Lee's quick inbound, outlet passes which initiate the primary break.  I submit that Gallo is not the answer. More significantly he is probably not in shape, yet, to run in this offense and play defense as a starter in back-to-backs.  Remember Philly is tomorrow and it is probably not a good idea to have three different starting units in the first three games.  If they plan on doing that and playing like they did last night, I will put there win total at 32 games.

Oh BTW, Cooley you were the first to give us the 411 on Douglas.  If you read my interview of Toney's father, you will see that I gave ythe D.C. boys credit for focusing our attention on Douglas. But cuz, and I love you, I do not recall you saying that Douglas was going to push Duhon from the starting unit before I saw him during the summer league.

Oh BTW again, have you guys given up already.  I see that Shon, a newby, Prince, O&B and Tman are the only one's with anything to say today.  I was waiting with baited breath to hear what the Fanatics had to say, but I'm going to stop by Posting and Toasting and read their shyte instead.

The Knicks simply quit. There is no other explanation for this atrocious performance by all concerned including marksman Gallinari who played well offensively when it counted least -- in the eye of a blowout. There is very little to say about this experience except that their effort was totally lacking.  The coaching was horrible. D'Antoni often blames energy for poor performance, but it is the coach's job to provide an environment which generates energy.  Duhon will not be the Knicks point guard much longer.  He had 3 points and five assists in 32 minutes.  David Lee had 22 points and 9 boards but he was no match defensively for Jermaine O'Neal who looked fully recovered from his physical problems of last year.

 

Gallinari found his stroke in the second half when the defenses played off him more, giving him room to shoot and the score was out of hand.  But, it is that little spark which gives Knicks fans hope, albiet false hope.  Gallo was very one dimensional, easily abused on defense and failing to drive to the basket and create plays.  He is little more than a set shooter at this point. He scored 22 points shooting 7/13 from the arc. He had six rebounds and 0 assists in 28 minutes.  In 37 minutes, Wilson Chandler scored 21 points on 7 for 18 shooting, 7 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block and 2 turnovers. He had the best plus/minus of any Knicks player who played over 20 minutes (except Nate) and it is guaranteed that he will be criticized for his play more than Gallo who failed to bring it when needed.  Chandler could be used better however.  He does not need to settle for jumpers.

 

We play Charlotte next.  Charlotte was blown out too, but by the Celtics.  Hopefully, the Knicks will come to play this time.

Daddy Douglas: I feel like it's good that we are in the summer league so that we can get adjusted to the NBA game.  When the season comes and the coach puts him out there he will know what the expectations are.  I'm really thrilled with the way he's playing. He's showing that he can play with these guys and that he belongs.  I think he's doing real well.  There's a lot of things, just like all the kids, that need improvement, to work on.  This is a better place to do it.

O.K., so it's cool. The people at Bloguin have not been reading this blog.  It's all good.  We've only been here since October 16th, twelve days to be exact, and they are clearly drunk from the birthday libations.  (Oh yeah, Bloguin turned One-Year old yesterday and the story of its growth to a 100 blog network in 365 days is worth the read for any person with a dream.)  Despite Bloguin's quest for excellence and their great assistance in building this new home for us, it is really hard to believe they actually read what we write here because we at Knicks Fanatics have been nominated for Bloguin's "Rising Star" award.  How does a newbie, foul-mouthed, irreverent, silly, feisty, obnoxious and perfume-soaked (to disguise the toxins) indie blog get nominated for a network award.  I assure you that I did not pay to play even-though I LivesInNewJersey.  I also assure you that I did not vote once or twice although I learned to vote in Chicago elections.

Nevertheless, although my momma said to knock you out, she also said always be gracious when someone speaks nicely of you, whether you think you deserve the complement or not.  So, we thank Bloguin for the kind recognition of nominating us for an award granted to "the blogger who hasn't received a lot of notoriety from their blogging yet, but has a real talent for producing quality content and will no doubt be a star in the not-too-distant future."   Ahhh.  That's so sweet.  I understand that you can help determine who gets all the Bloguin awards by voting today or tomorrow in the public vote. If KnicksFanaticsblog wins, I think Peaceman should go pick up the reward.  Knowing how bad our voting habits are, seeing Peaceman accept an award just might get a few of us to vote.  Can you imagine my man with a half Marlon Brando-half Unibomber type of acceptance speech?

Anyway, thanks for the honor, but we just do what we do because we love to. (Send the honorarium to . . . . there is money attached to this award right?)
