ON OUR WAY TO THE TITLE SHUMPERT POSTERIZES ALL OF THE PACERS
Good Rx Grasshopper,
Don't blame old school Woodrow, there's only so many head coaching jobs in the NBA, fewer still for a Black man.Blame the guy who got rid of DWalsh who incidentally got his sweet revenge with a team that was funadamentally better than ours, a team Woodson would have loved to coach.Blame the MO-MOs who conned a new generation of simpletonian fans into believing old guys can beat Father Time one on one.Malone and Payton couldn't do it, neither could the Knicks Four Horsemen of the WeBeCrap-u-lus.Who to blame, who to blame?Seriously, we could have had Thib or MJackson as the coach at the Garden.Who kiboshed that?Jimmy the Moker, why is he a Moke? The Garden had a great year in every way, won many games they shouldn't have. They sold out every seat and were valued at over a Billion dollars. That's winning in the boardroom. The real con was Grunwald convincing fans four old guys could win us a championship. The tragedy is compounded by the fact Camby is signed for two, count'em years.Thomas is gone, Wallace is gone, Kidd maybe gone (I'd keep him, just don't wear him down to a nub!) Last year's hero, BDavis is gone, Copeland is probably gone, even JR may be gone. That's what you call desperation.Let's give Grunwald credit for the best 10 day signing in NBA history.Wait a minute he signed KMart out of desperation when the old dudes he took all that credit for went down.Talk about stepping in shyte. Why all this desperation, the old guys?Who fycked up and gave all our money to three guys and left us 12 mil for everybody else. Was it DWalsh who cleaned the books and gave you the bucks to make multimillionaires out of Amare, Tyson and Melo? But enough of history lessons, enough pin ball offense w/o rebounding and tough D,We lost to a better team.We were flashier, funner, they were better.
Next year the East will be tougher.Rondo will be back,Bynum might be back,Grainger will be back.Miami will be better.Rose will be back. What will we be?Older, but possibly better, I think.Melo will be better because he will pass more, defend better, rebound better. It has been beaten into his head the hard way.JR will be better, if he stays. He's learned another hard lesson.Woody will be better,He's learned a few hard tactical lessons.Kidd will be better because he will play less, hopefully.Prigioni is probably gone, a shame, he's good.
His wife wants to leave.Happy wife, happy life.Incidently if the Knick braintrust is so damn'd smart why'd they wait so long to use Pablo?I saw him in preseason and was impressed. And why wasn't Kidd on the floor the last 3 or four minutes when you need brains, leadership and defense? You can always find a shooter.
We need a low post scorer and rebounder desperately(trade Novak, keep Copeland, fills same role, maybe Novak and JR for a tough forward).Tyson was on the boards all by himself.Ewing had Oakley, Walton had Lucas.Tyson had...Biggest problem I see is Dolan needs to step away from the phone. We have ex-Knicks playing on every good team in the league. Why?Advice is killing us.We are in a hole because of a lack of professional management.ie.D'Antony=d'asster, etc.Small ball is BS if you got a good big man or a monster with an S on his chest.See present Playoffs.
That's all folks, have a great summer.lgk
@Tman I'm glad to hear from you T'Man. Yes ser sensei! I'm not ripping Woodson entirely. Of course I think his in game and game to game adjustments in the playoffs could improve. He needs to run a less iso heavy'reliant offense that stagnates in Melo's hands. Motion and more cutting could help but the particulars of whatever is installed I wouldn't know about. Also Woods reliance on old guys, I mean really, really, really old, old, old guys proved to be foolhearty. They couldn't hold up healthy when needed the most in the post season. Time to sign some younger guys to give some goon minutes at the 4 and 5 and maybe draft a big.
LGK! Glad to hear you here again! Cheers!
@Orange_and_Blue Hope the baby is well.Carry on Dad!
Love the game, love your family more.
Really enjoying Indy-Miami.Old school vs.Superman, love it.Indy covering the 3 point line and rebounding/defending the shyte out of Miami.Remind you of anything?Get out the drawing board, even if Miami miraculously wins (and I don't see it) the New Road to the chip in the East is through D.Walsh's Big Boys in Indy. They're not a fluke and they're not going away.
Sad sad sad. Knicks really are a one man team in terms of who they can rely on. Their offense to simplistic and soft versus "Smash Mouth" basketball. The type of ball the Pacers and Bull's play. The type of Ball, the 90's Knicks playerd. The type of Ball, the Heat can play if needed.
Sadly with the cap space as is. What's left for the Knicks to do. I think Woodson's a better coach for the Knicks than D'Antoni but he does appear overmatched and too, too slow to make adjustments against better coached teams. His prescription to fill the roster with Dinosaurs (Camby, Kidd, Thomas, Wallace) who came apart at the seems, was just a bad call and set the roster back. Grunfeld probably lost executive of the year for falling on that advice. Just like Walsh, Knicks skipped on Lance Stephenson b/c he did not fit the D'Amphony's system. Does anyone think Isaiah would have passed on Stephenson for Andy Rautins or Landry Fields? You know the answer to that one.
All I can see happening is the Knicks using the draft to either bolster the front court w/ a defensive oriented bruiser/enforcer/shot blocker or replenish the point guard spot if Kidd retires and Prigioni leaves. A young guard or front line player in the later parts of the draft is higher risk.
That said if possible the Knicks should try to retain Prigioni- but damn get him to attack- and also seek to retain Copeland if possible. I'd retain J.R. as well depending on the asking price. Given his inconsistencies- especially in the playoffs- he's not a max contract guy. He's a full MLE type off the bench player.
Melo needs help. either a trade is made to get him another consistent scoring option. Good luck there. Or... the Knicks develop from within.
My prescription for internal growth.
STAT- work w/ trainers on your defense and rebounding. Continue to develop and refine a post game. Knicks have no post game. Killed them in the post season.
Chandler. Add some weight or core strenght. He's a step down from Manut Bol. Develop a consistent 15 to 18 foot jumper and learn a couple of pet shots 2-3.
Melo, work on your court vision and improve your passing off of doubles.
Shumpert, improve your mid range and long range jumper. get some Stephenson in your game and learn to drive and finish w/ power.
Prigioni, if he returns, learn a floater or pull up. Defenses are laying back now since he's not a threat.
Felton, improvement all around, got to tighten up his floaters, mid range and drive.
Woodson, dammit, be quicker to adjust, install a bit more motion and post into the offense, should we get or develop another post players. Stop being a block head with your dinosaur loving self.
W/ a younger crew via draft and some FA signings maybe they roster can compete better in the playoffs next year.
Who's expendable. Novak is. can't do anyting in the post season.
Knicks need guys who can drive and shoot of the perimiter. They need threats or players to develop into threats.
It's Over. Woodson not making correct adjustments. Back to the drawing board for next year. CP3 anyone? LOL
