Former Knick, Dean "the Dream" Meminger died on August 23, 2013 at the age of 65. Meminger, a key actor in the Knicks 1973 Championship run, moved to New York from South Carolina when he was a seventh grader. As he sharpened his lightning quick point guardoffensive and defensive skills on the Harlem playgrounds, including Rucker Park, he went on to star at Rice High School and then win an NIT Champtionship at Marguette, by beating St John's in the 1970 title game.
His NBA stats can be viewed here.
The circumstances of his untimely death are still under investigation
Gren Grunwald, Knicks Executive vice President and General Manager, issued the following statement.
"Everyone at the New York Knicks organization is saddened to hear the news of Dean Meminger's passing. From the day he was drafted by this franchise in 1971, Dean was a friend and close family member of this team. On April 5, 2013, the 1973 World Championship team was honored at Madison Square Garden on it's 40th anniversary - there was no one prouder than Dean to be back on the court with his teammates."
Guess who wants to be a free agent?
"For once in my lifw I want, want want, want,want..."
Obviously he's not being paid enough.
Well, we're in two games and our "better than last year's team" is 0 for 2.That doesn't bother me as much as how we're playing.I'm not seeing any D, improved rebounding, etc.It looks like more of the same with less brains.Last year we were ancient, but at least we weren't stupid.Exactly who is taking JKidd's spot?I wasn't a fan of Grunge but I don't believe in humiliation as an exemplary busy practice.Dolanite stayed true to the kick'em out the back door school of management with Grunge's dismissal.Maybe he and IT had a falling out so Jamie took his ball back.Funny, Grunge was a genius until 10 days before the season. He got dumb in a hurry. The bones of this team are crazy and lazy.I hope I'm wrong but until they stop trying to outshoot the other side, I don't think so.SWOB(Stuck Wearing O&B)
Check that, JR aka Puff the Magic Dragger gets 5 games as a three time loser.Should have seen a problem coming when he went blonde.Grunge with another strategic move giving JR half his new contract money up front.Real smart move.
Knicks power forward Jeremy Tyler underwent surgery to repair the fifth metatarsal on his right foot Thursday and is expected to be out 8-10 weeks.
If it wasn't for bad luck, we'd have no luck.
@Tman Pretty interesting that the man feels he needs to experience free agency for no other reason than he wants to know what it feels like to be wanted around the league. So interesting.
@Knicks Fanatic @Tman Why was it necessary to say it and undermine the season so quickly.Couldn't he JUST DO IT, ha, ha, at the end of the season?Car-ME-lo will never win until he jumps on the back of an unselfish superstar who will make him his Tonto aka his jumpshooting bitch,He needs to man up and lead instead of excuse, excuse, excuse. You want to be paid big, play big. That means more than shoot.
