Rasheed Abdul Wallace (born September 17, 1974) just turned 38 years old last week. Many sources including the post are reporting that Sheed will officially sign with the Knicks this Monday. Some will say he's "washed up" others will cheer this move. Make no mistake. a healthy 15-20 per game Rasheed can help the Knick go all the way this year and that fact in itself may be the reason Rasheed wants in with New York ONLY.
Here's a little bit of information you may not know. During Rasheed's last NBA game ( game 7 Celtics vs Lakers) Wallace was troubled by his Mother's health. She was not expected to live 6 months from his last game as a Celtic. Rasheed's Mother defied all odds and is now in total recovery and indeed healthy and somewhat a medical miracle. Who can blame Rasheed for wanting to be with his Mother during her then supposed last days? Barkley, O'neal and many have dissed this team. However, we Fanatics know better. Rasheed has a ring under Larry Brown and then assistant Coach Mike Woodson. He can only help out with defense but can pop a short Jumper and bury the three if the floor is spread out for Melo to go to work.
Time will tell...but we can only hope people ignore Chris Bosh's warning about "Don't Sleep on the Knicks" which is going to be one of the main reason's why we will raise another banner in the Garden this June....it's been 40 plus years and it's our time. Chandler and Amare have endorsed his signing. Amare stated he was blown away that Rasheed still can light it up from 3 point range or Pop a 12 footer. We could also use a few more Tech's to fire up our team at times! ( Joke) LGK
Woodson said he had not decided who would start at shooting guard. Iman Shumpert and Ronnie Brewer, who both are rehabilitating from knee surgery, were doing individual workouts Tuesday. James White, who had been practicing with the starting unit, was on the sideline with a sore right hamstring that could keep him out of Thursday’s preseason opener at Washington.
Woodson kept J. R. Smith in his usual role of playing with the second team. Last week, Smith said he wanted to be a starter and that he entered camp hoping to accomplish that goal.
“Everybody can’t start,” Woodson said. “I have to have some offense coming off the bench, and I told J. R. he could be the best player coming off the bench in this league.”http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/10/sports/basketball/knicks-keep-ball-moving-at-practice-with-cameras-rolling.html?partner=rss&emc=rss&_r=0
On the same note "Melo" or Amare" could be the best player in the league coming off the bench. YOU START YOUR BEST PLAYERS PERIOD.. Woodson would be a Jackass to lose JR Smith's respect. Many Clubs would pay Smith 10 Million per year. JR has put in his time as 6TH man and has taken a hell of a lot less money to START in New York.
Woodson is playing the MSM.. According to someone at Knicks camp " there is nothing wrong with James White's right hamstring"
Mchale just announced at end of practice that Scott Machado would be starting at point guard and Jeremy would be a backup for now... so obviously the knicks made the right call on this sort of flash in the pan... what's up with that Tman???
I'll bet they Amnesty him before 2 years!
Two reasons Lakers and Heat won't be as good as predicted:
Kobe may not make the entire season
Wade's body is breaking down
The Knicks are DEEP and everyone is starting healthy. If we stay that way, look out NBA!
Reporting for training camp after well rested but ranch-less summer. It will take me a while to round out into shape, but I expect to have some post-up thoughts on the somewhat improved but also somewhat geriatric Knicks as the preseason develops. For now, I am cautiously optimistic about the Knick team which, when healthy, has depth if not youth, and I like the win-now attitude. LGK
The recruiting of Alpha Dogs with a history of victory in the NBA was a game changer. No excuses, just avoid the injury bug. JKidd was the coach on the floor during the pre-camp, mini-camp. His clip board days are already scripted. So far our heroes are utteing the right sentiments: Whatever IT takes to win.
It's offical ...Wallace signs with knicks for 1.7 Million
@Peaceman 27 million dollars says you're wrong.
Big talk after two days of practice.The Rockets have already won, see below.They have a team that is going nowhere in the standings, as usual, but the team is fast breaking to the bank.Look for McHale to go before Lin, Lin makes them more money.As for Machado, how much is he signed for? The entire NBA passed on him.I wish him the best but he is still all pass no J.Still good luck to him.He may be the next poor man's JJ Barea, if he's lucky.
"Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin and his alma mater, Harvard University, are in talks to create a co-licensed merchandise line, two people with direct knowledge of the negotiations said.
The line would be created with Nike Inc., which has Lin as an endorser and which outfits the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based university’s football and basketball teams, said the people, who were granted anonymity because the contracts aren’t signed.
A Lin-related line would be an economic and brand-building boon to Harvard where, according to the school’s 2010-11 Fact Book, almost 18 percent of the 6,657 undergraduates are of Asian descent, said Paul Swangard, managing director of the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center at the University of Oregon.
“Jeremy Lin provides an incredible platform for Harvard in China,” Swangard said in an e-mail. “To millions of Chinese children, the NBA and Harvard are separately ‘aspirational brands’ and Lin is uniquely positioned to align their messages. I predict Lin will become one of the most effective brand- building tools for Harvard in China.”
Harvard ranks first among Ivy League schools in merchandise sales, according to online retailer Fanatics.com. Fifteen percent of sales come from outside the U.S., according to Fanatics, which didn’t provide specifics.
Adding Lin already has paid off for the Rockets, who last month signed a three-year marketing agreement with East West Bank, which has branches throughout the U.S. and China.
Lin became a marketing force last season in Asia, where broadcasters tried to add more Knicks games to their schedules. Coca-Cola Co. added advertisements in Chinese to its courtside signs at Madison Square Garden, seeking to capitalize on Asian viewers.
(Well, don't have to worry about that money any more!}
Lin had the league’s second-best-selling jersey from April 2011 through April of this year, trailing only 2011 Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, according to the NBA.
We can always market Kidd, Thomas, Camby, Rasheed, and JR jerseys in the AARP magazines to make up the difference.Maybe we can buy Grunge a monthly Metrocard.
Prince we're going for it. We stay healthy and NO-BAH-DEE will
beat us in a 7 games series for the Chip. Dock IT!
You know Steady there will be plenty of bandwagon jumpers when we kick azz and say NEXT all season. Rasheed gives us plenty off the bench along with Camby. Kirt Thomas may be our "ML Carr"
@Tman @Peaceman Steady realizes that Peaceman is the one provoking Tman into nostalgic poetics about the Harvard grad backing up at point in Houston. He's just flexing his muscle obtained from rent collected selling venison out of PUP'S. ranch. Now PUP is in the proverbial dog house. JR as 6th man may get him a condo but doubt IT. One can't help but feel overt optimism with this group of geezers and goon. Steady will Live vicariously through them.
Steady as IT goes up the rafters come what May or June!
As long as that monthly Metrocard says World Champ Knicks ...I'm fine with that. Hoop over marketing every time.
@Peaceman We still have get past Boston and Miami in the East and then LA or O.K. City in the West. This season has a full 82 games + playoffs which will take its toll on all players. I want you to be right but there are many ifs and questions in my mind. I will offer a more in-depth discussion when I have an opportunity. Pleased to be talking basketball again; and love this blog. KFFL
@Tman TWT......I'm 100% sure this is the Knicks year!
@Peaceman Advo on the Metrocard...not bad.
As for the rest, it's unfortunately a cruel world.I'm hoping, But this might work better. Now I lay me down to...
