GSW brass : Bob Myers indicated he's unlikely to draft four players one year after the Warriors selected three.
"You have to surround youth with veterans, or else you're setting a bad precedent," Myers said. "A lot of young players crave discipline and mentorship, and we've got to find experienced players who can provide that for our youth."
Golden State’s first pick will be seventh. They also have the 30th, 35th, and 52nd picks.
The Knicks should be all over this. Pick 30 & 35 can be had for a Landry Fields, Toney Douglas or Cash, wihich Dolan has plenty.
It is also a great reason to LBE on draft night. LGK
For me, the perfect situation would be to trade TD for the 30th pick, draft a PG with that pick and then sign Lamar Odom. After that, we have a choice to either keep Jeremy Lin or make a run at Steve Nash. With Lin/Nash, a first round pick and Lamar Odom, we'll be fine in terms of playmaking and point guard play.
On that note, since I haven't written one in a while, I'm about to get to work on an "Offseason Wishlist" article. I've been doing my exams for the last month or so, but they're done now so I'm free to write.
But I need some input of players that the other fanatics would like to see in New York. They have to be realistic, of course, and I think it'd also be best to assume that Melo, Chandler and Stoudemire are all untradable.
I'm also going to try and do a draft preview in a few weeks time (if no-one else plans to), when we know if we're going to have another pick or not.
Watch the MSM get all over the topic "What is the best way to build a team: OKC vs Miami? An NBA Finals Preview"
Peace, Steady sees where you're headed but you will need to turn back. The NYK will not be able to package cash in this Draft because they dumped $3M to DC Wizards for the clearing of Rony Turiaf (a highly paid cheerleader and ptPer as in practice time player) Update the dictionary please Admin. ;-) Maybe GSW gift wraps something for G-doubleIT, who knows; TWT.
@Steady Correct, the draft is in the calendar of the 11-12 season.
although i wouldn't look GS direction at all and focus squarely on the Hornets and their 10th pick. Grunwald need to jump on that, and all they want is for someone to pick up Okafor and Ariza off their hands.
@smooth_BH Ariza is baller and got IT on his side. Okafor, not so much. His value will come as an expiring/expired. Everyone loves young talent but need a mix of youngs and non-cancerous vets with a winning pedigree. The NBA only mints 11 per year. Good luck with that.
