Fanatics,
Walsh and others that were against the trade will reluctantly admit that the trade made the Knicks a better team this season, the playoffs, next year, and as long as STATS stays healthy. Those believing that a 7-FT project with one good game this year should have held up the deal are delusional and do not know BASKETBALL. Walsh was against the deal ONLY because it was not his deal!!
Defense…I don’t believe you change your defensive mindset overnight, certainly adding Melo does not improve your defense. Are the Knicks playing better defense or is the tempo a bit slower with Chauncey running the point, dictating tempo and leading to fewer scoring opportunities for both teams, therefore lower scores . Forget the better Dee, more importantly this is playoff style basketball. The more opportunities the Knicks have to play and practice this style and tempo, the better in the long run, ie playoffs.
@Tman, I always enjoy reading your insightful comments. Unlike most fanatics I lack the ability to understand the nuances and sometimes I’m in the dark. Will you please elaborate on the following.
“Miami doesn't have a beast in the middle so we may be able to handle them with our new floor balance. One of the reasons they ran out and got Bibby was us.We are vulnerable to the teams with monster centers“,
Are you saying Bibby solves their issues in the middle? A simple mind wants to know.
Peace & Blessings
@Statesman First, you are far from a simple mind and we all know that.I was simply saying that Miami is a long shot for a chip because they are not big enough. An Eddie Curry sighting, he will probably be released, would not surprise me.Miami knows they can't do it with size so they went for more outside shooting. They were not happy losing to us because their prior defensive scheme will not work with Carmelo spreading the court. They also have to know they may be seeing a lot more of us in the playoffs. If you can't stop someone you are left with outscoring them, the D'Antoni solution.I am very encouraged by the attitude of all the players to embrace better defense.Defenses are not built in a day, but I really like what I'm seeing.Hopefully DAntoni is smart enough to realize what he's got and lead, or at least say the right things and let his brother build the D.We need a solid big man to counter the other Bigs.Otherwise I think we're pretty good, getting better, with a chance to be really good.I like what I saw in Orlando and last night was pretty good too.NO was only 4 for their last 16, but we beat them badly. That's what good teams do to bad teams.Interestingly, Ilike this teams character. They seem to be warriors figuring it out. They also seem to like each other.Obviously, Amare, Melo and Billups are the key and so far they are doing a hell of a job in the leadership area.Again, I like this team.We need a better counter in the middle and we're good to go for the hardware.Hope you're enjoyng this.T
Walsh said he isn't surprised D'Antoni has changed the offense using more isolation plays with Carmelo Anthony aboard. "You guys are all thinking Phoenix," Walsh said. "He's coached a lot of years."
His defense has sucked for a lot of years.Show a commitment on that side of the ball.So far so good.Amare and Melo have shown a surprising commitment to defense and sharing the ball. Our myriad of complimentary players are busting ass trying to make this work, and so far it is.Remember we were the best of the middle before and comes Friday Cleveland will be avenged. If we grow defensively we become legit at the next higher level.Miami doesn't have a beast in the middle so we may be able to handle them with our new floor balance. One of the reasons they ran out and got Bibby was us.We are vulnerable to the teams with monster centers, Orlando showed that, and even they are within reach. If Turkalow played we'd win.We need a legit big boy to nuetralize the big guys in Boston, LA, San Antone and now Okla.Still, we've come a long way.Defense will carry us the rest of the way.My hat's off to all the guys who are busting their asses on that side of the ball.Right now that's everyone.Don't fycke this up Mike.Lets Go Knicks. It's fun again.
Blow outs are rare for the knicks. CP3 obviously doesn't care about playing for NOH. Tell me when I should change my handle to CP3-2penplaza.
@Peaceman Not just yet Peaceman. We'll need assets to get him. He could just walk at the end of the next NBA Season if the rules available allow the Knics to sign him straight up. Then again Walker, Rautins, Fields and others will have their contracts come up for expiration so who knows if they will become trade fodder.
