Peaceman should love this.
In his latest interview with ESPN, Carmelo Anthony tell reporter Colleen Dominguez that he has not made up his mind but New York is the "ultimate dream," but he says he is keeping his options open and he has a lot of questions.
On the other hand, quite frankly I don't know what to believe. He likes the idea of playing in Brooklyn, but it is fairly obvious he does not want to get stuck in the Prudential Center in Newark. He is also concerned about the upcoming CBA which indicates that the money has some importance to him, so he hasn't totally taken Denver out of his future. (Do you believe that? Don't they get fined for suggesting that they want a trade?).
The latest report is that Anthony Randolph's agent is demanding a trade and that the Knicks are shopping him for a draft pick. Perhaps last night's loss to the Kings was a combination of jet lag and the players' thought of being jettisoned soon to make room for Melo.
WWYD? If you were Melo, "What Would You Do?"
Lives and crew
I spoke w/ Peaceman I will polish the comment and put it up as penthouse piece. I am going to facebook and going to ask for support on this open letter by asking all knicks fandom to sign with me and peaceman by clicking like on the article when I put it up.
What Knick's first rounder Bigshon? I don't think we have one to give. And why give up Chandler instead of Gallo.
Moz and Favors don't really compare in terms of addressing the Nuggets' needs and the player's upside. Why do they need Moz with Andersen and Nene on their squad. Favors has been a starter for the past three games and has scored 12 points per game with only 18 reserve minutes. He also rebounds and steals -- MozGov did not show that kind of versatility when he started.
IMO i dont think the nets offer is really sooo much more appealing that what the knicks could/should offer.
The nets are offering harris, favors.....2-3 first round picks and cap relief (poss ALs contract)
The Knicks could offer
Will (having a way better year than harris' last 2 and poss more valuable on the trade market)
Moz (Has some upside and has looked better than most first rounders from this past draft, not to mention that favors hasnt been impressive anyhow)
a first rounder acquired from a trade of Randolph
a future knicks first rounder
Rautins or a 2nd round pick or both
Curry (expiring contract)
im pretty sure the knicks could throw in some cold hard cash to ease the pain of having to absorb Curry's contract
In return the Knicks would land Melo and could even offer denver further cap relief by taking on the contracts of
Andersen (3 yrs 13 mil)
and balkman (2 yrs approx 3 mil)
(The Knicks absolutely should not go near Harringtons contract, the nuggets overpaid him n they're probably gonna have to eat it. just as we did for many years thanks to eddy curry, stephon marbury, jerome james n others)
Melo has all the power. if its new york he wants, its new york he will get...the nuggets have to realize that after the deadline has passed, the language in these deals will not be the same......
An open letter to Carmelo Anthony
You know Lebron gave up quite a huge chunk of change to join his buddies in Miami. He even cut into the percentage of yearly increase by one sharing some of the coin he could have demanded to help pay for Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem. Add to that some money he surely lost with his Q rating dropping some and the number of supporters/fans who stop rooting for him (and by extension buying his products) and you have a big loss.
Though he'll still make coin for Nike, he's talented and too good a baller and talented not to.
Point is here Melo if he chooses to ride out the storm can follow Lebron's path. Less money sure. He'll get the Max with the Knicks that MSG will be able to pay under the new rules of the game. His extend and trade is for 3 years. Even if they cut the Larry Bird exception money to 5 and the free agent opt out to 4 he'll still be ale to resign for a comprable length of time.
What should he do? Stand your ground if going to the Knicks is what you want then test out free agency. The way reporters talk about the possible New CBA and the way it's bandied about by Supporters of the Nuggets (and I'm sure Nuggetts OWNERSHIP as well) is like a lash on the last of a stable of thoroughbred ------. The others got away and all one owner could do was make a tirade, which some correctly identified as another in the long history of actions between the 40 (100) million dollar slaves and the sports team multmillion dollar ownership groups. Now if Anthony holds to his guns reporters will say New CBA, Ownership will say that to, his agent (A guy that WORKS FOR ANTHONY) for crying out loud will say the same thing and the specter of the now 100 million dollar slave is brought a new played out in the back drop of the eerie new CBA that will show the petulent ballers.
Melo if you enter free agency and choose to stay with Denver or sign with NJ b/c the Russian Mobster is so IMPRESSIVE ok. But you have power still. Ownership and your representative and ESPN scum will try to tell you otherwise. You still have the power to stick to your guns. No one can take that from you till you surrender it. Lebron stuck to his guns and now he is with a collection of talent that may win a series of rings. Meanwhile your union with Stoudemire and the rising core of the Knicks may never be b/c you will give into the lash of fear Denver OWNERSHIP and you REPRESENTATIVE and the other pariah/rumora will bandy over you. That union with STAT and Felton and possibly Chandler with Fields would have rivaled Miami and you might be in position to challenge for the Chip that defines a player.
You have Lebron's power stick to your guns and decide in free agency. If the Knicks aren't your choice. Well at least the team had a decent chance to woo you and you weren't forced coerced scared into going against your heart's inital desire.
Rip Hamilton sat out last night in anticipation of the Nets-Nuggets-Pistons trade happening soon. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=310114028 Interesting.
Tracy McGrady had 22 points
@Orange_and_Blue LOL--Steady stays in cloak and daggers. However, Steady is never cloaked with veil of Hypocrates. LOL From time to time, a "threw" gets "through". That happens because through IT all, after throwing enough misdirections with puns and jibber-jabber, Steady is speaking four other languages. IT will be five and fine when Ebonics officially gets added in 2015. LOL

@Steady You have a valid point in cloak. Running from a fight after a hit on a member of the Knicks may say that he is indeed afraid of a fight. Lebron get's smaked with hate and he has spited them all. He's not afraid of a fight. Melo you may be right could be another story. But we have that to be played out and proven right or wrong or whatever it may be.
@Orange_and_Blue Useful post O&B, very useful. A few weeks back, the Bloga T-man blogged about a human flaw noticeable in the great talent who is Carmelo Anthony. One would need to know T-man as a Shakepearean and contemporary of Mr. Naismith himself in order to understand and appreciate his post. T-man's comment harkened back to the incident at Mecca where the coveted star through a wild roundhouse and then dashed off in the other direction. The Melodrama that is being played out is a combination of what is known in these here parts about N.B.A.=Nothing But Actors and the 'Cuse Star's inability to steph up to fight against those (in his camp, Denver, NJ, League office) steering him away from his supposedly first conviction--JOINING AMARE @ MECCA.
Don't invest too much of your NYK fandom passion on this drama Fanatics. Melo said it himself, "at the end of the day, IT's gonna be what IT's gonna be". And you can bet that IT is definitely using all that his momma left him to get IT done. Meanwhile, love the ones we've got in case you may have to cheer for one of them to make a critical FT with seconds on the clock against the LepraC's or land a dagger in South Beach to rule the East. If you really wanna covet, covet a signal caller in Sean John suits.
