The Chris Paul saga is different. This morning, nervous about where Chris Paul would go after one of our most reliable Fanatics via a very reliable source divulged the details of an agreement that has the point guard in a Knick uni by Monday, I ran to the news feed as soon as I woke up wanting to know whether we were right or wrong. As I looked at the press clippings on the net, I was buoyed by the last report we received from our source which was that the Knicks were working out the details which would involve a third team. According to Peaceman, who detailed the Melo trade for us via his sources nearly three months in advance, there are two teams working to fill the roll as a third team. But as I look at the news this morning, I get slapped in the ear drums by an early report from Marc Berman in the New York Post which says the Knicks trade talks are dead according to his source. According to Berman's source, it's over for the Knicks but Chris Paul will be traded in the next few days.
According to Al Iannazzone of the Bergen Record, we could die if we hold our breath waiting for Paul to become a Knick. His source, a western conference executive, opined that he didn't "think" the Knicks had the assets to make the trade.
According to ESPN, Paul will not be traded by Friday (we said that already) and all Paul talks have cooled. Chris Broussard contradicts himself by telling viewers to throw the Knicks out of the mix and insists that Paul can only get to his preferred destination by free agency, unless there is a last minute trade because the Hornets can't find a better deal. He also opines that the Knicks do not have enough to bring in a third team.
Like darn, who is right?
I'm betting on Peaceman's source. In part because I want him to be right, but mostly because his source has not been wrong, yet. Since, we published the certainty of Paul being traded, (others had good speculative pieces on it before us) we've been bombarded with an avalanche of stories and rumors of Paul's eventual landing place. At different times reporters have had Paul definitely going to the Clippers, Warriors or Lakers. Now according to the press, the last team standing is the Lakers. Still no report on any details of the talks between the Knicks and the Hornets or the involvement of a third team. Only reports that we are out of the running.
I'm betting the Knicks are not dead yet!
Why? Common sense. Admittedly sometimes in the NBA (like the labor lockout) common sense takes a long time to play a part in team decision making, however, if the Lakers are the only players left in the game and as revealed, the Clippers and Warriors were never really in the game, then the Hornets never really had any leverage to extract the best deal possible for LA. The Hornets must part with Paul now -- the NBA owned franchise cannot afford to lose Paul and come away empty handed. Maybe the Lakers will win the sweepstakes, but this does not sound like it fits in the general managing philosophy of the Lakers. Chris Paul, as his friend Stephon Curry (who was not worried about being traded) said, wants to be in New York. Everybody knows that Paul wants to end up in New York. CAA knows that there are ways to make that happen. Will Stern, who rarely plays obvious favorites with the Knicks, help make it a little easier to happen. Paul to NY would surely help the owners (and ESPN) make back some of that loot they just lost a lot faster.
Tomorrow, I think I'll spend a dollar on the New York lottery too while I'm at it. LGK.
(By the way, welcome to all the new visitors. None of us expected to attract this much attention. We hope and believe that our "truth" will win out, but you know that things happen and change in transactions daily. However, we are believers.)
I know this sounds crazy but we should sign AI he is a great player and has had a big piece of humble pie
We don't need Chris Paul, and no way in hell would I trade Amare for him. We have the best front court in the NBA right now. Its so much easier to find a PG than it is to find an elite big man like STAT. Keep our players and build around the core we have. With the additions of Chandler and Shumpert, we could end up with a top 10 defense, and a top 3 offense. I'm done focusing on other teams players.
Dwight Howard is prepared to ask the Magic to trade him the Nets!!? Lmao really... The Nets? lol espn "Chris Brussard" is the one that said it so u never know he changes his mind a lot
We ALL know what's about to happen here...... Amare is gone! Cp3 is coming. Peaceman said it first although he never said anything about giving up Amare. I don't think this is a bad decision at all. I loved amare for that one year he played with us but would he really have came to NY if we didn't offer him what Pheonix wouldn't. And I'm sure you guys remember the cp3 an Chandler duo..... Add a superstar iso player and young pieces, makes that team RIDICULOUS!!! Amare will be missed for the first 5 games but no more than 10. Lol. Nice having you here Amare, see you in the playoffs or not.
off topic... but is there a patch or plug-in to download for this blog?
at work i can NEVER EVER get the comments section to load... it is just blank white space where that normally is... and that is on mozilla firefox.
here at home on my mac using safari it loads up but every 2 min or so the browser shuts down and kicks me off. this is actually the 4th time i've tried writing this message cuz i kept getting booted... am i missing something or is it just from all the advertisements?
I think its more a posturing move by Stern. it also helps the Knicks, allowing to give up Amare without much backlash or choice.
Adrian Wojnarowski: League source on killed deal: "...(Stern) wasn't going to let Chris Paul dictate where he wanted to go." Twitter
if he aint gonna let him dictate, he aint coming to ny, through trade at least
Winning is a business and the Knicks are now in the business of Winning. I'm sure Amare will get some parting gifts....lol
It makes a lot of sense why Paul would want Chandler and Carmelo and the Knicks should consider unloading Amare for Paul. Paul and Anthony would be sometimes resricted from going to the hole, if Amare is clogging the lane. At the same time, Amare is not a good rebounder, when they deccide to shoot from outside. Chandler, however, along with Jeffries are more versitile to co-exist with these superstars.
I would rather go with a two + and a lot better supporting cast, than a big three and no one around them.
Let;s hope the Knicks get Paul, Chandler and Hill this season to team with Carmelo and wave good bye to Amare. No Knick fan would be heartbroken for too long.
I would also like to throw out there........if Paul comes to the Knicks, Howard will probably go to Brooklyn (for Lopez and a 1st Rd Pick) and team with Deron, unless LA gives up a ton for him this year to try and give Kobe a couple more cracks at a title.
chris paul is lawyering up... does he really want LAL or is that just more posturing so if/when a NYK deal is struck the league doesn't kill that one?
Sten has no chooice, Paul has more power than him. He wants NY and it seems the league has few options. Boston, NO!. LA (Clippers, Lakers, and Warriors) No!. Houston is stuck dealing with the Knicks, but must note, they have been dealng it for tha last few years..... Where else can Paul go?????
I'd have to admit, if Paul comes to the Knicks, as "Peaceman" has steadfastly contended would occur, then I would have to take my hat off to him, for his ability to be an amazingly insightful source of information. Congrats in advance if it happens.
But, as reports are lfooding in at this time, his predication looks a lot more viable than most so called reporters have been saying these past few days.
I hope it turns out in your favor, and so does probably every Knick fan on this sight.
ESPN's Chris Broussard is reporting that Chris Paul is furious about the NBA's decision to cancel an agreed upon trade to the Lakers.
Paul is exploring his legal options with NBPA director Billy Hunter.
to make up for it NBA lets him go to knicks where he really wants to go...
Doesn't the Knicks signing of Tyson Chandler which is said to be a 98% chance the killer of any CP3 acquisition?
WE TRIED TO TELL YOU COME LATELYS THAT PEACEOUT IS DA MAN!!! IF YOU DON'T KNOW, NOW YOU DO!! HOLLA!!!
one thing is definite. Chauncy Billups will not be playing for the knicks this season. He is going to either be amnestied or traded
As a crazed Knicks fan, the only reason the league is where it is today has much to do about the battles the Knicks had in the play-offs during the 90's than the stars themselves during that time aside from Micheal Jordan. In the 80's it was all about Boston and LA. (Bird / Magic). In all fairness, Shaq, Kobe, and Duncan did their best to maintain popularity. Look at the players now going forward....Who is the next Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, Bird, Magic, Duncan???/ Durant. He's in Oklahoma...good luck with that market. Rose?? (Never will match Jordan's popularity) Griffin??? (He's a Clipper...Nuff said.) Lebron??? (He lost out when he took his talents to South Beach and came up small in the play-offs).
However, the future looks like NYK, MIA, CHI, and possible the Brooklyn Nets in the East,
Haha CP3 to NYK!! Let's go, yea Peaceman! Hope your right.. haha so many crazy twists in this free agency..
Paul To LA deal In Jepordy http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/7333285/los-angeles-lakers-agree-trade-pau-gasol-lamar-odom-chris-paul-sources-say lmao lets go NYK
I believe the owners know it is time to shift from LA winning titles to New York. California is crumbling economically and New York will survive. The NBA needs NYK to succeed over the next ten years or the leaugue will be in trouble in six. Sorry, I am under the impression this is all posturing to allow the Knicks to get back to prominence without it looking suspicous.
so what now? do we have to wait for free agency since the owners forced stern to back out of this trade... which surely would've netted NOLA more than we can give...
only thing. If the NBA Owners shot down a deal to LA, then they would most certainly shoot down a deal to the knicks
@dylan8701 I Def Agree
@tramac2442 Awww man. I find it hard to disagree with anything you said, except that Amare deserves better treatment. Without Amare coming in here with renewed vigor and serious determination to lead this team, we would not be in this position. The money is not the point. the attitude, swagger and effort is what immediately elevated what it meant to be a Knick or a fanatic about the Knicks. Studdy is the man. I will miss him for 66 games. It we play 78 or more, I won't miss anybody.
@tramac2442 Great show of loyalty.
@E_Roc it does the same on my mac i thought this site had a virus im using safari off my mac to and its getting me pissed off lol
@E_Roc We'll look into it!
@JoeJC gotta keep amare man...
imagine the pick and rolls with cp3...
@JoeJC the guy started the revival and carried us all year...cant get rid of him sorry you are wrong here
@JoeJC yea i'm not seeing the connection, i still think dwight goes to LA
@JoeJC I dont see how the two are connected.
@E_Roc Paul ain't "lawyering up" him and Melo are laughing their ass's off!
@JoeJC word i feel the same way congrats to peaceman cuz day by day it seeming more n more true lol We Back!!!!!!
@JoeJC Yea, but if the nba wouldn't allow a deal to the lakers, then i find it hard o believe they would allow one to the knicks
@jdimag That is an Act. Melo and Paul were probably laughing
their azzes off. Also. if that LA deal had any validity, KOBE would have had a interview in the first two hours!
@JoeJC lets hope so
Apologies to peace man for sure. Lets see how this plays out
@jsk793 I don't believe the owners shot down anything.. considering Paul's stance on " I'll only sign an extension with the Knicks..I doubt there ever was a deal to LA.
LA has won 5 Chips in last decade 5 in the 70s. They are not a big town hurting for prominence. NY's Knicks. are. It's a different deal. LA getting CP3 would be like the Rich getting wealthy. CP3 to to Knicks would be like the your eccentric late bloomer relative finally getting their shyt together and turning the tide on a promising future. @jsk793
@gianthinker Lol... I'm just speaking logically. He came to ny looking for money. Unfortunately hes about to get caught up in the business side of it. Does Dolan strike you as a loyal owner? He will trade his mother for yours if she cooks better. But Honestly... Throw ya conscience aside for a sec... You don't think we'd have a better team with cp3, melo, landry, iman, Tyson, TD plus added pieces.
@E_Roc I would prefer the pick and roll be with Carmelo and CP3, with Chandler cleaning up the boards.
@jdimag@JoeJC i def agree if it wasnt for amare nobody would of wanted to come here not melo not cp3 not chandler not anybody we cant get rid of a guy who can give u 20 pts and 8 reb at one point last season he almost cracked double digits who with a frontline of chandler/amare/melo what is better then that in the nba and i think we start Iman And Tony Douglas u cant get a better defense then that and tony can hit the 3 and if iman is hitting the other teams are in trouble we can run up n down the court with the best of them it would be exciting but if we get paul then im a knicks fan how could i disagree with 1 of the only point guards to average 20+ 11.8 assist a night
@tramac2442@gianthinker i like iman i think he is the next russle westbrook and he play defense he is athletic and could jump out the gym if he worked on that jumper i believe if we doing well he could be up for rookie of the year i think its wide open he can play both sides he can play point or the SG and give other guards problems on the defensive side via lebrons,wade,kobe
@gianthinker I agree, and I said that in one of my earlier posts but I don't see the Knicks giving up on cp3 n feel like Dolan is going to make that move regardless of what people think. None o us wanted to give up our WHOLE team to get melo but he did it anyway. Wilson gallo Raymond..... It doesn't matter to him. He just wants to get his player, or else he wouldn't of made the move to get Chandler. Best big we could find this year so when he gets rid of amare we still have a good big and a great pg. I liked Amare and wish he could stay n play but I doubt it will happen. Who's gonna run d'antoni's offense? TD? Iman?
@tramac2442 I think its a precedent to set that you'll discard the players that make you who you are.
