Tomorrow, the Knicks will tip off their quick two-game pre-season series against the New Jersey Nets.
Whilst it is just a pre-season game, Knicks fans will be excited to see the team play for the first time since they were swept by the Celtics almost 8 months ago. The game will also give fans their first chance to see new signings such as Iman Shumpert, Tyson Chandler and Mike Bibby in their first (semi) competitive action as Knickerbockers. The game will also mark the first of many returns for former Knick Shawne Williams.
A slight worry emerged for the Knicks earlier in the week, when Carmelo Anthony hyper-extended his knee in practice, but he has since said that he will be good to go for the pre-season opener. It will be extremely important for Carmelo and the other Knick stars to get substantial minutes in these pre-season games to build chemistry – a major problem in the final stretch last season.
The game may also give Glen Grunwald a final chance to see exactly what the Knicks are missing, giving him the opportunity to fill those needs in time for the regular season. Will another contributor off the bench be needed? Is the starting point guard currently on the roster? We’ll soon find out.
The Knicks are obviously the better of the two teams and - despite it being the pre-season - they need to wipe the floor with these Nets. If we want to win a championship the intensity must start now.
This game may not be too important in the long run but we should enjoy it – remember that just 20 days there was no promise of us seeing any NBA basketball at all this year.

Kobe and Vanessa file for divorce.Interesting timing. If Jim Bussted/Dolan 2.0 really wants to keep only Gimpy/Bynum... and save huge$ then the Kobester may be very willingly on the way to ...Dallas.Smell the wind, read the signs.
MSG is showing a 2 hour Knick Training Camp special this evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be a repeat showing from 2:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m. and again tomorrow from 12:00 noon to 2;00 p.m. before the Knicks v. Nets preseason game. I will try to check in at the LBE around half-time, if I can free up to "post-up" from prior family obligations. LGK
DALLAS -- The Mavericks have waived guard Andy Rautins five days after he was acquired in a three-team trade that sent Tyson Chandler to the Knicks.
Still want him, he's free.
@Tman Sinister...almost Don Carleone-esque. Equally sinister is why Walker and Taz are being bubble-wrapped (like when you don't want to damage another team's goods until the deal is done). If Steady had a source...
Question: Si, Dallas is the Lone Star State and they do it all GRANDE out there. Are there enough lights out there for The Lord of the Rings? There once was a Blogga at one of the former Blogspots who would be all over this news and lining up the scenarios a la Peaceman. The joint custody business for the ninas will make moving out of LALaland difficult.
Steady as IT goes looking for the Lord.
Live Blog that is @Post_up_Prince
See you at the game Prince @Post_up_Prince
T'Man the problem is that one of the B list issues in the new CBA will prevent players waived from their former teams tobe reaquired in the same year. The rule is either a year/season out or some other long duration of time. Why aren't the Knicks pursuing Chris Humphries me and the Londoner think he can help. Besides he's free from the disgusting grasp of the Kardashians. @Tman
