In addition to a report, that Kenyon Martin has reached a buyout agreement with the Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association, another report indicates that the Pheonix Suns will release, Mickael Pietrus, after reaching a buyout agreement with the shooting guard. The buyouts of KMart and Pietrus provides the Knicks another chance at going bargain basement hunting.
Both players can surely provide much needed depth for a regular season most observers expect to be marathon season run at a sprinters pace with so many games packed into only four months.
KMart can surely add much needed toughness and depth to a talented, yet, relatively thin Knicks front court. However, because reports indicate that Martin will be ineligible to sign up and play with an NBA team untill his Chinese team's season is over, hopes to add KMart to the roster will likely go on lay away. But wouldn't Mr. Fugazy with a little of that ole nasty be a welcome sight to beef up the front court.
Pietrus on the other hand may not be as needed as KMart. But given that Pietrus is a big 6'6" shooting guard with decent three point shot and a good defender, his services should be welcome when the Knicks look to contain guards like Dwayne Wade.
So what would you do to that ever present "room exception?" Give it some space and go for KMart on lay away? Or, go Holiday shopping early and add a big defensive guard to addres the likes of Richard Hamilton, Ray Allen and Dwayen Wade?
P. Vecsey's Knick nightmare.Granted he's an ass, but ...he does know a flaw when he sees one.
So, Baron Davis is projected to replace Mike Bibby. That¹s like changing a flat with a flat.(Disagree there, depends on Davis' health and mental outlook) And it¹s not like their bigs are willing or good passers either(two out of three ain't good). Tyson Chandler¹s best years occurred when being spoon fed by Chris Paul and Jason Kidd.(true) Habitually in foul trouble, Chandler's minutes figure to reach an all-time low in view of how many backs he¹ll have to protect.(maybe, could be, probably) Think Amar¹e Stoudemire will cope any better in that role? Amar¹e needs to rebound better. (true)Carmelo Anthony needs to move the ball better.(truer than true) And both need to learn how to play (and this is really important) WITHOUT THE BALL! (THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH!!!)Management should have appointed Chauncey Billups coach when it had the chance.(Hadn't thought of that, but probably an excellent move)"
He does make a few solid points.
Enjoy your holiday!!

I like Pietrus. I have always liked his shot and thought he would be more successful than he has been. He is a tough defender as I remember him. Kmart? He's on the downward slope of his career. Scowls don't equate to great defense.
The difference is that KMART has to wait until march to play! However, Pietrus
was reported to be bought out for 5 million which the Knicks may have to pick up if they sign him. However, Pietrus was part of Barron Davis's GSW that blitzed the Mavericks three years ago and BD knows him well! This is getting interesting!
Not to disparage those who suffer from illnesses or abuse substances, Vecsey comes off as someone who may have downed too much spiked egg nog. What game is he watching? Old man PVexy has not been right or relevant since Slick Riles flew in his side piece to Mecca. Look at his statement about Tyson Chandler and the one about The Baron of Gotham. BDiddy was serving similar lobs to Blake and DeJordan to his PaperClips. How could he misremember that? There's nothing new in his assessments that has not been blogged or uttered on the air by the MSM ad nauseum.
In these here parts we blogged about the Amnesty loss of Coach Big Shot. That was a Steadyism that went undecoded. Chauncey will have his chance as an X-checker a la Monty and Action Jaxon. When that time comes, whoever stephs up with the "papers" Coach Big Shot will have to think hard and break in. IT is too soon to tell. Let the games begin.
Ring-a-ling-ding IT's a new season for bling.
Patch up one hole, means another opens up when the ship wasn't built right to begin with. Is this what you're saying T'Man? I sorta see you're point. But it seems like the Knicks see the point future for Now as being a point forward who is currently more scoring forward than point forward. How will that take the ball out of Melo's hands? Should it be in the hands of another? That question won't be decided until the Knicks have a who can prove their point. @Tman
I noticed that last year Memphis was able to throw two good defenders out at opposing scorers. At that time they had Shane Battier (now with the Heat) and Tony Allen. Adding Pietrus to provide another monkey wrench to throw at rival shooting guards and scorers can't be undervalued given the Knicks decades long deficiencies on defense. I'd sign up for some Pietrus. @Lives
I think it's time for BDiddy to do a little recruiting. Pietrus defensive assistance and capable three ball shot would definitely be welcome. We could then throw Shumpert and Pietrus at opposing off guards to frustrate the heck out of them. Would be nice to strengthen that perimeter D. Douggie, Shumpert, Pietrus with Chandler manning the middles and Jorts roughing up the folks driving through the lane. @Peaceman
@Orange_and_Blue@Tman Please... don't expect a rejuvenated Baron Davis to be anything else but what he truly is.. a game changer with heart and an Evil Streak! BD is very capable of making everyone around him better. Only Davis at his best could have pulled off perhaps one of the biggest playoff upsets in the History of the NBA!
I'm banking on this Davis to show up every night with the knicks!
