Lee's agent, Mark Bartelstein, told ESPN.com that Lee had agreed to a sign-and-trade worth $80 million dollars over six years with the Golden State Warriors.
Now this is really a surprise. It must be the money and being in California, probably near his girlfriend, because for Lee to voluntarily go to another dysfunctional organization makes no sense. I would have loved for him to stay in the area and play for the Nets since it was unlikely he would remain a Knick. David Lee with Don Nelson for an average of $13 Million per year? He's making more money than most Knicks fans thought he was worth. Most of us (not me) claimed that last year he should have gotten around $9 million. My feeling is that he was done with the Knicks (check out The Final Chapter -- Exit, Stage Right, Almost No One Left: Inside the Knicks Exit Interviews 2010 and laugh a little) especially since he wasn't able to earn that playoff bonus. I would hope the Knicks gave it to him, since the roster, not Lee's play, was the reason he did not make the playoffs.
Congratulations to Lee. He was a great soldier. However, I have a feeling that Golden State is not a good career move. Anyway, I hope he kills it.
BTW, has Wilson Chandler been traded? Walsh said nothing about Randolph paired with Chandler?
