Congratulations LeBron! You've managed to milk this Free Agency Process for all it's worth. Tomorrow night you'll declare to the Peasants of the world where your highness will play basketball for the foreseeable future. I've been wary of you since that last game against the Celtics. Remember when your team was down by 7 with a minute left and you guys just let the clock run out? Probably not. There are after all bigger fish to fry in your world. The problem is a lot of people do remember that moment. Now my whole opinion on you isn't based on that one particular incident. That wouldn't be fair at all. There's just something about the way this summer has gone that rubs me the wrong way.
It seems like "your team" includes those on the payroll at . They, ESPN, will benefit even more from their constant coverage of team meetings, rumors, and speculation. We all knew this would be your summer but damn did you have to go and rig the game?
Chris Boussard wants us to believe that ESPN has given him no knowledge of where Thursday's announcement will take place. Sounds curious to me. Cameras have been following the 2010 Free Agent class with plans to air a documentary. You mean to tell me that they don't know where the announcement will take place when it's been in the works for months? C'mon LeBron!
I don't begrudge your success but your constant attention to brand building is annoying and ESPN is complicit. I'll still watch Sportscenter and other programs that they provide but from here on out I'll be watching it with a whole new perspective. Sort of like when Fox News is "reporting" on Dick Cheney.
Lastly, if you decide to come to New York, I will welcome you with open arms. You're a great player. Maybe you'll even win a few championships. One thing is for sure however. I will never buy into the whole King James brand.
