Knicks Fanatics Offers Links To Haitian Relief

Haitian Relief

While we do not endorse organizations, we do encourage everyone interested and concerned to do what they can to lend assistance to the mass of people suffering tremendous losses in Haiti.  Of course, we cannot help everyone in the world, but there are certainly times and events of such magnitude that they demand the immediate attention and care of the world.  There is no time more obvious than now. You can investigate ways to help through the following links:  Network for Good , NBA Cares and Better World Campaign.  Be loving, but also be careful and look out for the Relief Request Scams.   We offer no endorsements; we simply want to make it easier for you to help.

I received the following e-mail from a very dear friend. I thought it was worth sharing:

My heart is broken and so saddened by the recent events in Haiti. I have not yet made a donation to the Haitian earthquake relief efforts because I wasn't sure where to direct the money so it would be used directly to support the people of Haiti rather than administrative overhead for an organization (as I recall, half the monies donated to the Red Cross for Katrina relief in New Orleans went to support that organization). I asked a Haitian friend and colleague Mona Rigaud, whom some of you know, for her recommendations. She emailed me this list (and the Red Cross is listed), but is strongly supportive of Fokal. She has had many experiences dealing with Fokal, and trusts that 100% of donations directed for earthquake relief would be used for that purpose. If you are planning to make a donation, please consider Fokal.

Take care.

Organizations for Earthquake Relief Efforts:

1.Fokal-USA.org

2.amheny.org: association of Haitian doctors abroad- New York Chapter

3.GCC- Groupe des citoyens concernes. In Haiti providing small monetary assistance on the ground.

4.Unicef

5.Clinton Foundation.org

6. Red Cross
