Our holiday discussion about the surprising Landry Fields rages as a couple of fanatics wonder out loud, after viewing the rookie's collegiate highlight reel, whether he is holding something back. Fields has been nothing short of phenomenal as a rookie. As a starter on a decent Knicks team, he is averaging 10.4 points on 51% shooting, 8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game. He is the second leading rookie in double-doubles behind Blake Griffin, leads all NBA guards in rebounding and was named the Eastern Conference Rookie Pin-up Boy for November. Even with that type of rookie production, we may be witnessing the tip of the nice-berg as Fields becomes acclimated to NBA ball and everything that goes with it on and off the court. Peaceman offers the following video as evidence that the man, who has been likened to everyone from Bernard King to Shane Battier to Tom Gola, really has a more explosive and well-rounded offensive game than he has shown us to date. Check it out. What do you think? (Happy Holidays)
Tom Gola? Prince? I don't know who Gola is, but I do know it is a high compliment to be compared to one of the 20 greatest collegiate ballers ever. Here is some rare Gola footage.
