Some of you might be wondering, "Why is Aaron involved with the ALS Association?" The answer to your query is William "Poppy" Johnson, my grandfather. He was diagnosed with the disease and quickly passed away shortly after the diagnosis. He was always active, tossing the football, tending his garden or shooting hoops with his kids and grandkids. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis made it impossible for him to fully enjoy his life. He went from walking fine on his own, to using a cane, to depending on a wheelchair, and finally bed ridden in just about a year's time. This was a very troubling time for our family but we've bonded together by rallying around The ALS Association and their many different fundraising events. The Hope of one day finding a cure for this disease is what keeps us going. Maybe another family won't have to lose a loved one the way we lost Poppy.
